Beth Guertal, Ph.D., is currently a Research Director at the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Collaborative Research on Sustainable Intensification (SIIL), at Kansas State University. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Ohio State University and her Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. Guertal worked 28 years as a researcher and teacher in turfgrass management at Auburn University, with an emphasis on soil fertility and fertilizers for turfgrass, and the fate of fertilizer nutrients in the environment. Guertal's excellence in the turf industry has been well-documented through numerous awards she has received; she was selected to the 2023 Class of American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellows. She is a popular instructor of both seminars and webinars.
