From the age of 12, Kyle Sweet has been a golfer and a golf course employee in some capacity. After discovering a passion for the work early in his college years, he relocated from Central to North Florida to attend Lake City Community College, graduating in 1993. His first position following graduation was the Assistant Superintendent role at The Sanctuary Golf Club, Sanibel Island and then moved up to hold the Superintendents role at the club for the past 22 years. Sweet has led the way environmentally for the club, becoming Audubon Certified and GCSAA certified in 2003. He has worked closely with the neighboring J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, the City of Sanibel and groups and foundations around the island, protecting and preserving the islands natural habitats throughout his tenure on the island. Becoming a Certified Florida Master Naturalist in 2016, Sweet conducts golf course wildlife and plant tours throughout the year for members and guests. Wildlife and Landscape photography are passions of Kyle's and his photography can be seen throughout the Sanctuary clubhouse and island community, highlighting the abundant and diverse wildlife and beauty of Sanibel. The Sanctuary Golf Club sets the standard for a premier island golf course in Southwest Florida.
