Keith Karnok, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Meigs Professor at the University of Georgia. He holds degrees from the University of Arizona and Texas A&M University. Karnok’s research focuses on the use of wetting agents on the golf course, understanding biostimulants and factors affecting turfgrass root growth. Karnok’s excellence in the turfgrass industry has been well-documented through the numerous awards he has received, including the Teaching Award of Excellence from the National Association of Colleges & Teachers of Agriculture, the Fred V. Grau Turfgrass Science Award from the Crop Science Society of America, the Outstanding Educator Award from the Georgia Green Industry Association and the Josiah Meigs Award for Excellence in Teaching which is the University of Georgia’s most prestigious teaching award. In addition to teaching and research, Karnok has served the turf industry in many positions including President, North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture; Turfgrass Science Division Chair, Crop Science Society of America; and Editor of Crop Science Journal, Crop Science Society of America. In addition to participation in many state and regional turfgrass conferences around the country, Karnok has lectured in Singapore, Japan, UK, Australia, Sweden, Spain and Canada. He has been a GCSAA faculty member since the early 1990s and he enjoys performing magic and ventriloquism for schools, libraries and family events in his spare time.
